Mechanical with Specialization in Automobile is a 4-year professional undergraduate program that provides a broad, intellectual foundation in the fields of design, manufacturing, automation, thermal engineering, automotive engineering, electric vehicles, batteries, and motors used in EVs. Mechanical and Automotive engineers are involved in designing mechanical systems like turbines, aircraft engines, structures of ships, and various power plant entities such as boilers, heat exchangers, and automotive applications ranging from two-wheelers to heavy-duty or special purpose vehicles from conceptualization to manufacturing. The program allows the students to study the relevant areas associated with automotive systems and electric vehicle designs and development. The courses in this program are designed specifically to address the new and emerging technology in the automotive industry toward futuristic smart mobility.
About the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Automobile)
The Department of Mechanical Engineering (Automobile) began its functioning in 2009. To support this, we have established industry-institution-linked centers of excellence (EICHER MOTORS LTD, BOSCH LTD, INDIA YAMAHA MOTORS LTD, ROYAL ENFIELD LTD, J K TYRES) where additional training is provided with the endorsement of industry partners. These linkages enhance job opportunities and ensure that students stay up-to-date with the latest knowledge, thereby supporting their future growth. The department takes pride in shaping prospective engineers by equipping them with both technical knowledge and work efficiency, and it aims to continue producing highly skilled professionals in the coming years.
Career Options
With multi-disciplinary knowledge about electronics and computer software, students can find employment and internships in major automotive industries like BOSCH, Volkswagen, Maruti Suzuki, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Delphi, TVS, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, VALEO, Nissan, Ather Energy etc.
