ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING AT A GLANCE
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering started its commendable journey in 2001. With excellent infrastructure and full- fledged faculty, the department has always been in the path of rapid progress, making it one of the premier departments of Amal Jyothi.
From an expensive smart phone to satellite communication, our lives are incomplete without E & C Engineering. To meet the requirements of the equipment and components in everyday life, we enlighten our students in researching, developing and manufacturing electronic devices, along with giving them a holistic and pragmatic picture of the advancing digital world. Right from the beginning, the dept has taken pride in equipping students to be successful all through their lives and hopes to witness more in the coming years.
About: AJCE ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
Since its inception, the department has progressed rapidly and is now regarded as one of the premiere departments, with excellent infrastructure and a highly committed faculty. The course contents are intended to give the students a holistic and pragmatic view of the present scenario of the Electronics and Communication industry as well as a grounding in the concepts and theories that will shape the future of the industry.
Career prospects
A graduate in ECE can apply for the post of engineer in the State Government, the Central Government and the public sector. Central services like Indian Engineering Service (IES), Indian Telephone Industries, BSNL/ MTNL, Civil Aviation Department, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., HPCL / BPCL, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), Bharat Electronics Limited, Indian Railways, ISRO, DRDO and the Defence services offer exciting careers for ECE graduates. Private sector opportunities also exist in profusion, in the Semiconductor industry, VLSI Design Industry, Software industry including MNCs, computer- related fields and the Telecom Sector including mobile computing, hardware and networking.
LaboratoryIn order to ensure a high standard of education for students, the Dept has constantly upgraded itself adding well-equipped and fully furnished laboratories to supplement the theory courses. Old laboratories like the Analog Electronics Lab and the Microprocessor labs have been upgraded with state-of-the-art equipment. Computing FacilitiesThe computing facility of the Dept, comprises a most modern network of computers running on Windows platform, apart from the Central Computing Facility provided by the College. The labs are able to accommodate 60 students at a time. Department LibraryThe Dept Library has over 1500 volumes of technical literature, in addition to training material on Central Service examinations, GATE and other competitive exams. The Digital Library hosts a copious collection of e-books on technical subjects. The Library is open to all staff and students of the College from 9 am to 5.00 pm. Professional Technical AssociationsThe Dept is associated with professional technical associations and societies namely IEEE, ISTE and IETE, which provide students with opportunities to update their technical knowledge and personality traits. |
Consultancy ServicesConsultancy activities are taken up in the form of Pre / Mid-term / Final assessments relating to disbursal of funds on behalf of CAPART, Dharwad (DST, Govt. of India) to NGOs based in several parts of Kerala. The Dept. has also provided Testing Assistance for luminaries and estimation services for the electrification of public constructions for Erumely Gramapanchayath. ECE AssociationThe Association consists of the faculty as well as the students of 2nd, 3rd and 4th year batches of the branch. It serves as a forum for students to interact with the real- time industry situations. Guest lectures and seminars are arranged regularly and the members are greatly benefited. The Association encourages students to prove their worth through the annual technical and cultural festival called “ASEATIC”. We are the first dept association to come up with the branch magazine “ZEALOUS”. NBA AccreditationThe Electronics & Communication Engineering Department secured NBA accreditation in 2012, as one of the first of its kind across the State to get this much-coveted distinction. It was re-accredited in 2017 up to 2023. Only a handful of colleges in Kerala have attained this recognition. The National Board of Accreditation (NBA) aims to achieve standards with programmes offered in institutions offered across the USA and Europe, by introducing a quality auditing system and establishing data for measuring the quality and excellence in technical education. The NBA periodically evaluates technical institutions and programs on the basis of guidelines, norms and standards. The accreditation exercise is designed to be rigorous with several inputs such as quality of teaching, level of research, faculty expertise, evaluation of teachers, standard of infrastructure available on the campus such as hostel facility, library, medical facility etc. |
Research & DevelopmentApart from teaching- learning process, the faculty and students have been vigorously pursuing research and development at the College. Papers have been published in a few national and international journals as well as in prestigious conferences. Our students have obtained outstanding positions in top-rated national level project contests like Tech Top, Trivandrum, and Telegraph Knowhow Innovation Hub, Calcutta etc. Intelligent Light Dimmer, Solar Irrigation System, Elephant Restraint System, and Electronic Wheel Chair for differently abled persons are a few among the many student projects that have been widely acclaimed by the media for their usefulness to the society. PlacementThe Dept has an excellent placements record, both in the public and private sectors, including HCL, TCS, Wipro, DRDO and BHEL. A large number of students have gone abroad to pursue higher studies, and many have consistently secured admissions in prestigious institutes of India over the years. IN-HOUSE PROJECTS and TRAININGMajor and minor projects related to the course are done as in-house projects. Students take up IEEE papers as their base for major projects. Members of the faculty function as mentors for various projects in other engineering colleges as well. To meet the current demands, the dept organizes various training programmes, inviting eminent personalities in the field to lead the sessions. |
