ORATORY CLUB
OBJECTIVES
The club aims at
· Enabling the students to communicate effortlessly
· Improving public speaking skills
· Enhancing the leadership qualities of students
· Making them confident enough to face successfully job selection processes and other challenges of life

The initial meeting of the oratory club was held on this date. The prayer was followed by presidential address. It was decided to call upon each member to introduce themselves to the club. The program was indeed interactive and a question session made it livelier. There were a few more members to present themselves. At the end of the hour, it was decided to continue during the next R & D hour. Dr. Sebastian Narively conveyed his messages and suggestions.

The meeting started with presidential address. The introduction of the club members was completed. Dr.Sebastian Narively introduced a book, 'World Famous Speeches'. Most of the members found it useful and a few ordered the book.
The next main activity was to conduct debates within the group. Members were divided into groups and each group elected a leader. The topic for debate was discussed and finalized within each group.

After a silent prayer, it was time for conducting debates. The general procedure for conducting debates was briefed by Ms. Maya Mohan (S5 ECE). A few members also conducted a mock debate. The topic was 'Government College or Private College - which is better'. It was informative and lively. Due to time constraints, debates were scheduled to start off during the next club hour.

Debates were conducted in each group. The topics for each group were as decided the previous week. Group leaders were asked to look into active participation of each member.

The first session of the even semester saw members coming forward to speak on various topics. First, Sheeba Mary gave a welcome speech. It was followed by Renju Jacob speaking on 'Outsourcing ', Kurian John on 'Political Violence in Kerala', Neil George on 'Water Conservation', and Chithra Mary Eapen on 'Child Labour'.
