Statement of Objectives:

To Bring More Placements to the  Campus
To Equip our students with skills to face interviews successfully

First meeting of Career Club(GN-1)

The Career club was inaugurated by Mr. Thomas George (Turing Point) long with the auspicious presence of Prof. Manoj T joy, HOD-Dept. Of Computer Science and Mr. Thomas Paul, PRO-AJCE
The meeting formally started with the presence of Mr. Thomas Paul(PRO) ,Mr. Manoj T. Joy (HOD of computer department) and a chief guest Mr. Thomas George (chief proprietor Prompt group).
With the PRO Mr. Thomas Paul sir addressing the group. He emphasized on cooperation for the improvement of the club.

Having said the election for the office bearers was held :

Vice President   : Dina (S6 ECE)
Secretary          : Jackson Dominic(S8 ECE)
Joint Secretary : Reserved for S5 student and will be held at the next session

After the election Mr. Thomas Paul sir invited people to share their views and then he Invited Mr. Thomas George sir to say a few words. He humbly introduced himself and what he does in 27 other colleges and wanted the students to emphases on three aspect

1. Practice aptitude tests in the college because it will help for placements. He emphasized on the fact the more we practice the better we will be at it.

2. Group discussions is a part of any interview and thus must be practiced. An initiative at one persons part will help the whole lot. 

3. About interviews there are a set of general question that must be practiced daily for finally getting through an interview. Then he mentioned that the maximum number of placements does not take place where the PRO is the smartest. He told us that it was our responsibility to bring placements and not the PRO's and he gracefully concluded.

Mr. Thomas Paul sir thanked Mr. Thomas George sir for his wise words and urged the students for commitment.                        

Mr. Thomas George sir requested the club to invites talks from reputed companies to the colleges a good behavior or image will ripple through people and that the best way to invite companies is by personal contacts after saying this he sat down.
The PRO then continued and then invited anyone to express their views   
Jackson Dominic (Secretary) introduced himself and expresses that commitment is the need for this club to succeed and then he invited suggestions from the students at the next session and then concluded.           

Eben George (President) addressed to the student too.
Mr. Manoj T. Joy sir then spoke to the audience on general matters and urged the students to recollect why they selected the club and after this he took the attendance and a total of 38 students were present.
The meeting was concluded.

Career Club Meeting No.2 
The meeting started a little late with Mr. Thomas Paul (PRO) addressing the crowd .
He started by   taking an account of those who have joined the career club recently and who all were absent at last club  meeting.
After taking the count he introduced the chief guest Mr. Krishna Kumar better know as Krish    currently conducting Empowerment for the second years'.
Krish is a graduate from N.S.S. Palackad .
Krish started by first asking who all opted for the club and who all were put there by default.
After taking the count he started. But before he started he took a few minutes to recollect what he wanted to  say.

  • He said that its easy to talk for 6 days but to talk for 10 minutes was harder.
  • He said that he wanted to give us something that will that is useful to get a job after all its our primary goal.
  • But then he went off track he told us some of his experiences.
  • Krish said that at the first Azure '05 it took him an hour for him to reach the auditorium, where he was a judge for the Mr. & Ms. Azure, from the gate.
  • He said it was because of the students he knew because He was there was for the turning point of all batches.
  • He always had a homely feeling when he was at AJCE.
  • But he confessed that he gets a detached feeling from the students towards the college nowadays.
  • He revealed to us his experience at some other colleges that have half the infrastructure that we have and where discipline is thrown out of the window. But he also mentioned that when the exams come the students have bucket loads of supplementary papers.
  • Then the fun started he asked us to find all the circle in the room thus brought us to a state of circle awareness.
  • Next he mentioned his first trip to the second CUSAT campus at Polinkunnam how awful the college infrastructure but the students were smart and took us through his experience there.
  • Finally he gave a suggestion to keeping Chits of all the students and bringing them up for talking on the stage.
  • Then he concluded his talk by asking if there were any questions

Then the secretary took the stage and carried on to the next order of business before that he was   remained to thank the chief guest by the Mr. Thomas.

Then the secretary thanked Mr. Krish for his  enlightening words.
Then the new s5 representative was elected Mr. Vijay from s5 ME.
Then a discussion was taken on the new set of rules and due to lack of time the attendance was taken and the  meeting was concluded.

Career Club Meeting No.3

The career club meeting started as usual Mr. Thomas Paul (PRO) addressed the students.
Next he introduced Mrs. Krishna Kumar.
Mrs. Krishna Kumar then spoke to the students her words included

  • People not wishing
  • Positive body language
  • The necessity of smile wish etc. she said that out of the possible ways of communication only 7% is by words 38% is by attitude and 55% is by gesture.
  • Wishing is important for interviews that is a body has an aura around it and as you smile your aura becomes positive and people with positive aura as easily acceptable.
  • She mentioned the importance of open body language that is the crossing of hands and legs.
  • When asked the meaning of 'being educated' the students replied.

* Culture
* Happy life
* Attitude
* Behavior

  • Then Ma'm mentioned some tips on 'Talking on any subject any place and any where'

* Reading helps
* These students have an edge over othersThen she mentioned some must read books& It's not about the bike - Lance Armstrong

  • With this Mrs. Krishna Kumar concluded her words
  • Then the new joint secretary was elected Hari Krishnan of S5 Mechanical
  • Then Mr. Krishna Kumar took the stage and gave these few words of wisdom

* Keep equipping yourself
* Keep your mind open
* Prove yourself before quitting any job you are in if you want to change your job.

He said that it's just for your satisfaction

* Know what your goal is
* He said get a job first any company before college is over
* If your hobby is your profession then you will never feel tired and you don't have to work
* As the topping over the cake he said 'Just go for it'.

  • Then the meeting was wrapped up by taking the attendance.

Career club meeting No.4
Mr. Manoj T. Joy (HOD of Comp. Sc.) Faculty in charge presided over the meeting. He welcomed the day's chief guest Dr. Sebastian Nerively a record holder for the youngest professor at the age of 19yrs.

Dr. Sebastian Nerively started by thanking Mr. Manoj sir for the introduction Then he went on to share a few of his experiences.

  • He started schooling at the age of 3yrs
  • Then by the faith in him by his teachers he was put in standard 6 by the age of 6
  • He was the youngest malayali to pass the degree course**
  • Soon after his graduation he was appointed in St. Thomas, Pala as a lecturer

Then he took us down his memory lane and he stated as he compares his youth and ours there is a world of difference. He says

  • the job opportunities are way bigger now
  • 1980 period was dull with regard to job availability

Then he advised us to

  • Know the track that we wish to be on and don't be distracted
  • When we go for an interview though we score 70% marks but if we are not able to express our self then assume that we acquired the marks by foul methods.
  • Communication is very much needed and it is not one way traffic but a multi level traffic

After this he stressed on the importance of communication skills

  • It is not a one way traffic the be ready to reply
  • Listening is as important as replying
  • To equip our self he mentioned a useful matter to read that is an article by B.S.Varyar in the Hindu every Tuesday

He then conveyed that a good vocabulary boosts our career speed. Some ways to improve our vocabulary are listening to

  • News broadcast
  • Listen to conversation of people from America or Briton
  • Visualize what to say
  • Try out IELTS to test our English

Then after a quick recap he concluded the talk

Eben George (President) thanked Dr. Sebastian Nerively for his words of wisdom then started on the issues of the club. He said that the students are simply sitting around without any interest. Dr. Sebastian Nerively left the meeting and was sent of with a round of applaud.

 Jackson Dominic(secretary)  stated to hold a interview for the semester 5 students and then they decided the time and venue.

Eben stated the semester 5 have to start taking initiative
Then as this discussion subsided three semester 5 students Swithi Mathew ,Beni Anna and Dinah Ann(Vice president) rose and offered to conduct an aptitude exam for the club next week
The meeting was concluded and the attendance was taken.
